Michigan Genealogical Council Projects
Michigan Genealogical Council has the following projects in process:
-
The Michigan Genealogical Council (MGC) is once again sponsoring a FamilySearch indexing project. The project is "US, Michigan --Port of Detroit Manifests, 1906-1954. There are 56,662 batches consisting of 849,185 images. The project is considered a "Beginning" level project and is easy to index. There is only one record per image and about 15 Images per batch. Unlike the last project, this project has only two or three different forms. I think you will enjoy the indexing as the information can be very interesting. You may sign up for FamilySearch Indexing at https://indexing.familysearch.org
Once again, Roger Moffat and Byron Bailey are administrators of the project and are here to assist you if you have questions about this project. They may be contacted by e-mail fsindexing@mimgc.org if you wish have a question about this project.
The project has only been up since October 28 and we are already making progress. Even though the MGC is sponsoring the project, the project is open for everybody to index. We appreciate all efforts to help complete this project. When completed the images and indexes will be available at FamilySearch.org.
-
Our previous project, started in January, 2011 is the Michigan County Marriages - a project in partnership with FamilySearch Indexing. The index is expected to go live in late 2011.
-
Another project, started in January, 2010 is the Centennial Families Indexing Project consists of creating an electronic index of the 1976 MGC Centennial Family Project. When completed this index will be searchable, and researchers will be able to easily locate the original application at the Library of Michigan.
-
Death Without Record - This Michigan Genealogical Council Project is accepting
registrations for persons who died in or before 1900, and left no Michigan official record.
